We breed individuals who have attained either showing or
working titles, ideally both. Our foremost objective is to
produce exceptional malamutes who exhibit correct breed
type, temperaments, genetic health and who are structurally
sound. We hope that Spiritrun Malamutes will be good
ambassadors for the breed, become cherished members of
their families, spirited workers and live long, healthy lives.

Alaskan malamutes, like all other breeds, have their share of
certain hereditary disorders for which responsible breeders
should be screening for in their breeding stock. The Alaskan
malamutes used in our breeding program are certified clear
of inherited eye diseases by a board certified veterinary
opthalmologist (CERF), hip dysplasia (OFA/PennHip), thyroid
disease (OFA) and have CHD numbers (AMCA).

Spiritrun puppies are born and raised in our home and are
the top priority in our lives while they are with us. Early
socialization in the beginning weeks of their lives is critical,
so we ensure that each puppy receives ample opportunities
for socialization in a variety of settings while in our care.
Spiritrun puppies are released to their new homes no earlier
than 9 weeks of age which also ensures they have received
optimal rearing by their dam. Before they leave for their new
homes, puppies are examined by a licensed veterinarian,
eyes have been examined by a registered veterinary
opthalmologist, they have been de-wormed, vaccinated with
their first set of vaccinations and microchipped as a form of
permanent I.D.

Each new owner will receive a Puppy Portfolio containing the
following: a health record, a vaccination record, feeding
recommendations and schedule, care and management
guidelines, general information, a copy of all contracts and
guarantees, pictures of the sire, dam and litter, temporary Pet
Plan Insurance coverage (Canadian buyers only) and a copy
of the puppy’s pedigree. If the purchaser resides in the
United States, an AKC Foreign Dog Registration Application
form will be provided or can be downloaded from the
American Kennel Club . All pet/companion puppies (not for
show or breeding purposes) are registered on a Non-
Breeding Agreement with the Canadian Kennel Club .

CKC Registration papers are provided to the new owner as
soon as they become available to us and no longer than 6
months from the time of purchase. Our contracts require that
female pet/companion puppies be spayed or neutered. We
must do our part to stop the unecessary breedings which
contribute to the onslaught of dogs that end up in shelters
and breed rescue. Our puppies/dogs are fully guaranteed
and if, for any reason, you have to relinguish ownership of
your dog, we will take him or her back.

We are available at any time, throughout your malamute's life,
to answer any questions and to assist you in anyway. We
always want to hear how things are going. At Spiritrun, we
breed with the intent to keep something for ourselves,
because the quality and integrity of our breeding program
depends on it. We are always evaluating the puppies, from
birth, based on their emerging personalities and their
conformational make-up. We offically evaluate the puppies
between 7 and 9 weeks of age and we bring in the non-
subjective view of other breeders to assist us. Show quality
puppies are chosen first, and pet puppies are placed on the
basis of suitability for their new home and their new life. We
base our pet placement decisions on suitability of
temperament first, all other considerations come after.
