Our life with Alaskan Malamutes began in 1996, when we acquired Tkaya, Krystalmar's Tkaya Tyee, and it was this beginning that led us to be hopelessly addicted to this impressive purebred northern breed. A wonderful opportunity was presented to us and we became the proud owners of a beautiful four year old female named Amber, Canadian Champion Keikewabic's Agassiz of Tundra, ROM, CAM, CGC, TT and shortly thereafter, Ruby, Keikewabic RubyRed Spiritrun, came into our lives. We were now at a turning point in our lives. We found a rustic property north of the city and planted our roots. Amber was bred to the top AKC Best In Show winning Alaskan Malamute of all time  -- Tyler, BIS, BISS American and Canadian Champion Nanuke's Take No Prisoners, ROM. At the time of this exciting breeding, he was at the top of his career. He was the #2 ranked AKC show dog All-breeds in the United States, the reigning Westminster Kennel Club Working Group Winner and the reigning Alaskan Malamute Club of America National Specialty Winner. Suffice it to say, we had a very fortunate start to our breeding program and we are forever grateful to the individuals who started us out on the right foot and who continue to mentor us to this day.

Our mission is to produce Alaskan Malamutes of Excellence who exhibit beautiful breed type; who are physically sound and possess exceptional temperaments; who are capable of excelling in working, performance and conformation events; and to place these Alaskan Malamutes in select homes where they will become cherished members of the family. Our goals are designed to preserve and protect the purebred Alaskan Malamute for future generations to enjoy.

We do not produce a lot of litters, so when we do, every effort goes into each litter we plan to ensure the best possible outcome for the dam and her puppies. We only breed a litter of Alaskan Malamute puppies if we intend to keep something for ourselves -- we do not breed to fill a reservation list. We breed championship stock in accordance with the American and Canadian Kennel Clubs Official Breed Standard for the Alaskan Malamute. We strive for constant improvement from one generation to the next and feel very strongly about breeding the whole dog, that is, to take into consideration all facets of what makes an Alaskan Malamute correct, and to not focus on simply one trait (i.e. size, colour etc...). We firmly believe that if you breed, you must show in conformation. Obtaining performance and championship titles allows us the opportunity to present our malamutes to the dog fancy, to measure them against the breed standard and thus validate our breeding efforts. Our breeding practices are in accordance with the Canadian Kennel Club Code of Ethics and Code of Practice for Breeders, and the Alaskan Malamute Club of America's Code of Ethics.

We are very active in CKC and AKC conformation dog shows and we enjoy many hours riding the runners behind our sled dog teams. With limited breeding, we have produced a number of Canadian and American Champions, Regional and National Specialty winners, multiple Working Group placers and winners and Best In Specialty and All-Breed Show winners at every level from puppy through to veteran. Many of the dogs we have produced have obtained titles in dogsledding (Working Team Dog), backpacking (Working Pack Dog), Rally Obedience, Obedience, Agility, Therapy Dog Services, even Medical Assistance Dog work.

We are members in good standing of the Canadian Kennel Club, the Alaskan Malamute Club of Canada, the Alaskan Malamute Club of America, the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League, the Great Lakes Alaskan Malamute Club and the Barrie Kennel and Obedience Club. Jennifer currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Alaskan Malamute Club of Canada, was a past board member and rehabilitation/foster home for the Alaskan Malamute HELP League and currently teaches Novice Conformation Handling Classes for The Barrie Kennel and Obedience Club. In 2000, we were the recipients of the Pedigree Breeders of the Year award, an award that has since been discontinued, but was a tremendous honour at the time. Jennifer is also available for Professional Conformation Handling Services and is an I.P.G. Certified Pet Stylist working from home.

Our responsibility extends to each and every puppy we produce to endure that they will live happy, healthy lives and that they will be cared for and loved by the owners we select for them. We take great care in selecting only the best homes for our puppies. Our responsibility extends to our potential puppy buyer families, as well, in that we must ensure that a malamute will fit their lifestyle. We will not hesitate to steer people towards another breed if we feel that the Alaskan Malamute is not the ideal choice for their situation. As passionate, conscientious and integrous purebred dog breeders, we are committed to each puppy we bring into this world for it's lifetime and will always be prepared to accept it back into our home, regardless of the reason. We do not take our responsibility as breeders lightly. Our puppies and our puppy buyers are dependent on our integrity and our willingness to continue learning and sharing. As husband and wife, we are fortunate to share a passion for this breed that continues to fuel a lifelong commitment revolving around the purebred Alaskan Malamute.
